Vacation Bible Camp - August 2010

Thank you to all those who participated in our Vacation Bible Camp, “Mission (Im) Possible” (August 23- 27). It was an incredible week, and we were delighted to have 27 children as part of the program. Special thanks to Deb Chapman for organizing and coordinating our VBC this summer, and thanks to her amazing team of volunteers who made it such an enjoyable and great success.

At St. Nicholas, we are thankful to be able to participate in and offer Christian Education through a variety of opportunities.

Sunday School is offered for younger children during the 10:30 morning service from September to Pentecost. See Church School here »

A separate youth program is offered during the Sunday 10:30 service for older youth to allow them an opportunity to gather and discuss the lectionary readings and other relevant issues. See youth »

Adult Christian Education opportunities occur during the year through offerings that include a themed program entitled “Glimpses of God” offered weekly for approximately five weeks and regular Quiet Days at the Convent of the Sisters of St. John the Divine.

Instructed Eucharists, inserts in newsletters and weekly bulletins, movie viewings followed by discussion, workshops and a library with periodicals, books and videos are examples of enriching educational tools, which have been made available.

We continue to look for new and exciting ways to experience God’s message to us.

The Gift of Being Yourself"Glimpses of God" Lenten Study
Together we discover The Gift of Being Yourself the sacred call to self-discovery.  Held the Sunday afternoons of Lent 2009 As we learn more about ourselves, we learn more about God. This book was the Recipient of the Award of Merit in the Personal Growth/Individual Category of The World Guild 2005 Canadian Christian Writing Awards. Walking the Way of the Cross
Over the past few years, we have walked the “Way of the Cross” in Lent, using simple Stations made out of paper. One of our parishioners has now generously given a set of real Stations, which will arrive before Lent. We walked the Way of the Cross on the Monday evenings of Lent, beginning with a brief reflection and discussion, and then walking "the Stations". Many people have found this to be a moving devotional exercise in Lent
